Training for your CompTIA A+ covers two specialised areas - you'll have to qualify in both sectors to reach the level of competent in A+. If you decide to become a student on the A+ computer training course you will learn how to work in antistatic conditions and build and fix computers. Diagnostic techniques and fault finding are also on the syllabus, as is remote access. Should you decide to add Network+ to your A+ course, you'll also have the ability to look after networks, giving you the facility to move further up the career path.

If you forget everything else - then just remember this: You have to get round-the-clock 24x7 instructor and mentor support. You'll severely regret it if you don't. You'll be waiting ages for an answer with email based support, and so-called telephone support is normally just routed to a call-centre which will chat nicely with you for 5 minutes to ask what the issue is and then simply send an email to an instructor - who'll call back sometime over the next 1-3 days, when it suits them. This is no good if you're lost and confused and only have a specific time you can study.

We recommend looking for providers that use several support centres around the globe in several time-zones. Every one of them needs to be seamlessly combined to give a single entry point together with access round-the-clock, when it's convenient for you, without any problems. Don't accept second best with the quality of your support. Many trainees who throw in the towel, just need the right support system.

Getting your first commercial position can be a little easier with the help of a Job Placement Assistance facility. Sometimes, people are too impressed with this facility, for it's relatively easy for any motivated and trained individual to land work in IT - because companies everywhere are seeking trained staff.

CV and Interview advice and support might be provided (if not, see one of our sites for help). Ensure you update that dusty old CV today - not after you've qualified! A good number of junior support jobs are offered to people who're still on their course and haven't even passed a single exam yet. This will at least get you into the 'maybe' pile of CV's - rather than the 'No' pile. In many cases, an independent and specialised local recruitment consultant or service (who will get paid by the employer when they've placed you) will perform better than any sector of a centralised training facility. They should, of course, also know the local area and commercial needs.

Not inconsiderable numbers of trainees, it would appear, put a great deal of effort into their studies (sometimes for years), only to give up at the first hurdle when finding their first job. Introduce yourself... Do everything you can to get in front of employers. Don't expect a job to just fall into your lap.
